Starting dancing at age 3 years in Birmingham following in my mum's footsteps, I just loved dancing. Mum would always say to me can you stand still for just 5 minutes, I danced on brick walls, around bus stops (we didn't have a car otherwise I'd have danced in there too!).

In class I was always out of time with the music, going the wrong way on the wrong foot, but having the time of my life. At age 10 I was in Concordia Theatre's very first pantomime 'Humpty Dumpty', we did lots of fabulous dance routine's and I think this is what cemented me into the dancing world.

Things became a little more serious when i auditioned at Pattison's as a full time dance student. I studied O level dance - Ballet, Tap and Stage, Greek, National, Speech & Drama. Dancing in cabarets and musicals at the Coventry Theatre and Leamington Spa Centre.

I would have pursued theatre but at age 49 mum (Shelia Smith) was diagnosed with cancer and passed away aged 51. Hence me stepping into the role of Principal of Rochelle at age 25 and the rest as they say is history.

It gives me the greatest of pleasure to wake up every day in a job that i love and teaching has been my vocation to pass on the love, enthusiasm, passion and joy of dance to the next generations.

You can learn such a wide variety of dancing styles that are taught by many extremely talented teachers – there is so much you can learn from all teachers. It is just such a wonderful place to dance, hence why I never left!
